Acapulco

Acapulco has been one of the world’s playgrounds for the rich and famous for several decades, and the resort was once a favourite haunt for celebrities such as Elizabeth Taylor and Errol Flynn. Today, it is still probably Mexico’s best loved resort. If you are looking for a holiday simply to sunbathe and party, the stunning bay and impressive nightlife won’t let you down. Other highlights include watching the clavadistas (cliff divers) throw themselves into the sea from 35m, and taking a boat trip to the more sedate Laguna de Coyuca, where you will find palm trees, wildlife and pretty lagoon islands.

Nightlife and Eating Out

There are countless places to eat in Acapulco. For a cheaper meal, head to the area around the Zocolo. However, to make the most of the resort, head to the beach for swankier tables and gorgeous views. There are also plenty of American chain restaurants, and fun Mexican bars such as Senor Frog and Copacabana.

Acapulco is a party town and many people head to the resort simply to party, especially during peak season. Most bars and clubs are located in the hotel district along the seafront drive, Costera Miguel Aleman, and you will find a variety of bars and massive nightclubs. Most venues stay open until sunrise, and for a unique experience, head to one of the hillside clubs for a dawn view over the bay. Most nights out will leave you significantly out of pocket!
