If you are heading off for a family trip before the end of August, you may find the below extremely helpful.

We looked into 5 of the Top Family Holiday Destinations for 2015 to find the cheapest family car hire prices and were surprised by the findings!

All the quotes were for the last week of August with pick up and return at the Airport. Prices are based on a 7 day rental, with a child seat, GPS system, one additional driver and top level insurance cover.

Car Hire IG

The research was conducted by Car Hire Centre using our online comparison tool. With access to 100s of deals at a click of a button and a handy, easy to read comparison chart, it’s a quick and simple way to compare prices from destinations around the world.

The above prices were obtained from an average total taken from car hire providers such as Hertz, Rental Cars and Europcar.

Malaga, Spain was our overall winner by quite a long way, with a rental car and all the family essentials coming to £173 for the week. Not bad at all! Brittany in France, despite being a popular destination, came out last at £327 for the week – ouch! However, all our chosen destinations offered some fairly good prices – especially compared to an average of £455 for the week in Rome!

So, with Malaga being the top of the list, how about a few To Do ideas to make the most of your family trip there?

Nerja

If you are looking for an uninterrupted Spanish getaway, we suggest jumping in the car and heading to Nerja, 45 minutes from the centre of Malaga.

Expect to find traditional winding streets lined with whitewashed houses that adorn the 16km sparkling coastline. A short venture from the centre will allow you to explore the Caves – Nerja’s defining feature and a place steeped in Spanish history with artefacts that date back over 20,000 years.

If you fancy making the most of the usual 30℃ heat, how about a visit to the Balcón de Europa – or Balcony of Europe. It offers exceptional panoramic views of the Costa del Sol from the clifftop, with plenty of entertainment and amenities, all in a stunning, seasonal setting.

Marbella

If a little luxury is more your thing, head east to Marbella. It’s no secret that Marbella is a favoured destination for the rich and famous, but don’t let that put you off!

There is plenty to do, including great days out for you and the kids! Why not check out the Paloma Park and take a picturesque bike ride around the grounds or head to one of the water parks such as Mijas Aqua Park where you can relive your own childhood making use of the water rapids, games arcade and rock climbing.

And who doesn’t love animals? How about a visit to the Bioparc Fuengirola Zoo to experience a ‘’Full-Immersion Zoo’’, complete with a tropical rainforests and the chance to come face to face with over 1300 different animals. They also offer educational tours for all ages, as well as opening late in July and August to give you the chance to experience the zoo ‘’after dark’’.

However, if you can’t decide what you’d like to see, don’t forget that the N-340 is your best way to explore; the major highway stretches from the North Eastern corner of Barcelona right down to Cadiz in the South West, and all along the Spanish Coastline. Jump in the car and off you go!
